The Problem:

Uganda has the world’s youngest and fastest growing population. With 77% of Uganda’s population being under the age of 30, it is now widely accepted that the average Ugandan is a 14 year old girl in a rural area, who has a 1 in 4 chance of dropping out of school before the age of 18. Additionally, this youthful population experiences different lifestyles, depending on whether they live in a rural or urban setting.  However, this young population offers immerse opportunities for the sporting fraternity and at Chocho Sports foundation, we intend to tap into that resource, by empowering young rural girls through sports. Because at Chocho Sports foundation, we understand and comprehend the challenges that the 14-year-old girls and boys l faces and we work actively to counter the effects of these massive discrepancies between rural and urban communities: because keeping girls in school, helps to empower communities.

Our Solution:

With the world’s youngest population and second highest refugee population, Uganda offers the best opportunity for talent development with its inevitable tickle down effect in rural and marginalized communities. Consequently, our sole objective is to make a lasting difference in the lives of young rural Ugandan and refugee girls, by strengthening their social, emotional and economic competences, providing them with a sense of self-worth and with the skills required to experience a full range of life options through an innovative sports program that provides self-empowerment, integration (for refugees) and training.
